3 Days Uganda Birding Safari
Introduction
Experience Uganda Birding Safari exploring some of the country’s most famous birding destinations. Uganda is one of Africa’s top bird watching destinations, offering incredible opportunities to observe more than 1,000 bird species, including resident and migratory birds.
The country’s protected areas are managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, which supports wildlife conservation and sustainable tourism across Uganda.
During this 3-day bird watching adventure, you will explore Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s leading birding destinations, enjoy a scenic boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, search for lesser flamingos at Lake Munyanyange, and visit Mabamba Swamp in search of the rare shoebill stork.
Furthermore, this safari combines beautiful landscapes, wildlife experiences, and incredible bird photography opportunities, making it ideal for bird lovers and nature enthusiasts.
Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early breakfast, your safari guide will pick you up and begin your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Upon arrival, you may enjoy an afternoon birding experience in the park, depending on your arrival time. The park offers excellent opportunities to spot various bird species within its diverse ecosystems.
Dinner and overnight stay will be at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 2: Uganda Birding Safari Experience at Kazinga Channel Birding Cruise and Lake Munyanyange Visit
Begin your day with an early breakfast before meeting your guide for a boat cruise along the famous Kazinga Channel.
During the cruise, enjoy bird watching along the water shores while spotting species such as:
- Pied kingfishers
- African mourning doves
- Cattle egrets
- Water egrets
- Yellow-billed storks
- Cormorants
- Spur-winged plovers
- Many other water birds
Afterwards, visit Lake Munyanyange, a seasonal home for lesser flamingos and an excellent location for bird photography.
Finally, return to Mweya Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 3: Uganda Birding Safari Experience at Mabamba Swamp Shoebill and Return to Kampala
Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before starting your journey back towards Kampala.
Along the way, visit Mabamba Swamp, one of Uganda’s best locations for spotting the rare and prehistoric-looking shoebill stork.
After the birding experience, continue to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport for your evening departure flight.
