Lake Mburo National Park is the smallest savannah park in Uganda located in Kiruhura district and Nyabushozi County in western part of Uganda ankole sub region. Lake Mburo National Park is very special place with every corner of its place showing it’s magnificent and colorfully species of wildlife animals that make one appreciate God’s creation. Its cultured landscape with rolling hills and Lake Shores also contributes to the beauty of the park. There are five lakes in the middle of the park and Lake Mburo is the biggest. It is home v to over 568 species of mammals 315 species of birds and it covers the total land of 260kmsq. It is among the newest national park in Uganda being gazetted in 1982.

As you enter around to the gate of the park expect to see herdsmen grazing cattle’s which is an example of how wildlife and people can live together. Elands at Lake Mburo National Park are seen in plenty and its home of zebras and in Africa we have only three species of zebras and in Uganda with over 5000zebras putting at number on in east Africa. Impalas are only found in Lake Mburo National Park just like elands, about 20% of Lake Mburo National Park surface is covered by water and this water is from Lake Mburo were the park drives its name.

How to get to Lake Mburo National Park

Its 3-4 hours’ drive through Kampala-Masaka –Lyantonde and then to Kiruhura district where you can find Lake Mburo national park with over 253kmsq drive by road making it the nearest national park from Kampala the capital city of Uganda.
