3-days chimpanzee tracking in budongo forest, budongo forest is located in Murchison falls national park, the forest reserve is 793km2 of which only 53% is forest and the rest is grassland. The forest boosts the high biodiversity with 24 species of small animals 9 of which are primates, 465 species of trees and shrubs, 359 species of birds, 289 species of butterflies and 1309 species of moths. It is also renowned for its number of mahogany tress and chimpanzees. The forest is believed to contain some 600 to 700 chimpanzees.

As a result of this great biodiversity two eco-tourism sites have been set and optimized for tour activities- kaniyo padidi and busingiro eco-tourism sites. these two sites have chimpanzee that have been habituated for tracking. Trail networks have been established for nature walks. you can get an up-close view of mahogany trees, iron wood trees and other vegetation. Their other species of primates like monkeys, one can also view several bird species such as chocolate- backed kingfisher, the white thighed hornbill and many others. you will be picked by your safari guide from the airport and drive to the booked hotel or you may decide to have the city tour around Kampala.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Budongo forest

You will wake up at 06:30 am for breakfast and then meet your safari guide for the drive to Budongo forest. the drive will take you through the historical Luwero triangle. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking / nature walk and birding in Budongo.

we shall have early morning breakfast at 06:30am and after going for chimpanzee briefing point at kaniyo padidi. we then start our chimp tracking the evocative pant-hoot calls are characteristics of the forest and will contribute to guiding you to these delightful apes and birding experience then return to the booked lodge dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Embark on transfer back to Kampala through Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

Wake up on early morning breakfast and meet your guide for a drive back to Kampala and enroute via Ziwa rhino sanctuary then late afternoon back to Entebbe airport.
